Asus, HP, and Lenovo Laptops Will Be Fitted Smartphone Chip

Desktop PCs and laptops have always relied on x86 processors, such as Intel and AMD chip. As for smartphones, usually using an ARM-based processor kind of Snapdragon series chipset.

Qualcomm as the owner of Snapdragon apparently not satisfied just take part in the mobile realm. The manufacturer wants its chipset line made also used in laptop computer products.

Steps to achieve that goal have already begun. In the Computex 2017 event in Taiwan last week, Microsoft and Qualcomm announced a partnership with Asus, HP, and Lenovo PC vendors to create Snapdragon 835 based computer products running Windows 10.

The third device will be made using Snapdragon Mobile PC platform that is claimed will bring smartphone-style features such as connectivity over time, long battery life, and fanless operation to a traditional computer.

"Older computer models are no longer powerful for today's consumers. They do not want a heavy laptop and must be plugged into the wall, with a variety of frustrating accessories, "said Qualcomm Executive Vice President, Cristiano Amon.
"The Mobile PC Snapdragon platform will enable Windows 10 hardware manufacturers to build next generation devices from the form factor side," added Amon, as summarized by KompasTekno from Windows Central on Sunday (4/6/2017).
