This Best-Selling Mobile Phone in U.S.

Samsung extend his lead as the top mobile phone manufacturers in the U.S. market, and Apple shifted to second place, an industry researcher said Friday.

A survey by comScore shows that in the three months ending in October, South Korea's Samsung was the top producer with a market share of 26.3 percent, up from 25.6 percent in the previous period.



Apple, which only sells smart phones (smartphones), moved into second place in the U.S. market for the first time, with a market share of 17.8 percent, up 1.5 percentage points. South Korean manufacturer, LG third with 17.6 percent market share, followed by Motorola at 11 percent.

Survey shows Google's Android system is strengthened as the leading smart phone platform, with market share of 53.6 percent, up from 52.2 percent. Apple's iOS platform for the iPhone remains in second place, and its market share rose 0.9 points to 34.3 percent, comScore said.

BlackBerry maker Research in Motion, seen its share declined further from 9.5 percent to 7.8 percent in that period. And Microsoft, which released Windows Phone 8 platform in late October, the share seems to shrink to 3.2 percent from 3.6
percent.
The survey found the 121.3 million people in the U.S. have a smart phone, or 51.9 percent of the mobile market.
