Opera Browser Will Seriously Go to TV

Norwegian Web browser company, Opera, believes convergence between the Internet and TV will continue to grow and become a trend in the future. Therefore, the Opera is ready to make a TV as the next platform that will be dealt seriously.
Like Opera's CEO Lars Boilesen expressed during the discussion on event Up North Web 2011 in Holmenkollen Oslo, Tuesday (10/11/2011), it believes the number of users equipped with Internet TV in the world will continue to increase. Currently, said Boilesen, modern television sales figures that are connected to the Internet only reaches about 20 percent.



"But in the future the numbers will continue to rise and for which television is the next platform that will be the focus of the Opera," said Boilesen.
Still according to Boilesen, now Opera have binding cooperation with 4 of 7 leading TV manufacturer in the world of Sony, Philips, Toshiba, and Sharp. In addition, Opera also has teamed up with 20 vendors who make the set top box.
In the future Opera hopes, their browsers are not only present in the TV as an application to surf in cyberspace, but also as a platform for other applications that are accessed via the Opera.
During the panel discussion that also brings in between Chief Technology Officer of Opera Håkon Wium Lie, director of communications data and communications services Vodafone Cenk Serdar, and Head of Consumer Engagement and Social Marketing Rovio, Saara Bergstrom revealed that approximately 10 years ago, the Internet is predicted to shift the TV , but it is happening is supporting its development. And now Opera projecting the TV will become the next focus, as well as mobile internet becomes the focus of the Opera after the fixed-line internet.
Furthermore, Opera believes that since the Nintendo Wii proved how playing games can also be a social interaction and not merely a personal activity, television is connected to the internet will also become a means for families who want to play games together. Opera TV Store is a storefront that shows a collection of web applications that have been optimized for screen television.
Users can browse, search and use recommendations for finding and installing applications. On TV Store Opera, Opera Software gives developers the means and tools to build a wide range of applications. Applications can be developed in which the application trailler Movie, Video on Demand, Games, and other applications.
