This is Curved Sony Camera Sensor

Last April, Sony is known is developing a camera sensor technology that mimics the curved shape of the human eye retina.

Slowly the form of censorship began to lift, as seen in the picture that was launched by PetaPixel above.

Why should be curved? One of the biggest challenges in designing a camera lens is a flat field projection on the sensor or film.

In fact, the field should follow the direction of the curved shape like a light projection on the retina in the human eye.

The quality of the light projection on the sensor also varies. Area middle (center) gets quality / best sharpness, while the suburbs tend to be dark and opaque.

Well, to make a sensor that degree of curvature equal to the eye's retina, Sony claims that the problem can be eliminated.

Sensitivity to light can be increased up to 1.4 times in the middle of the projection area. Meanwhile, the sensitivity in the area of the frame corner (corner) can be increased up to two times, while holding down the noise that arises due to an electrical signal in the sensor.

According to reports, Sony is preparing two versions of this curved sensors. One version measures 11mm and intended for mobile devices, other measuring 43mm (full-frame) for use in digital cameras.

One of the first products that reportedly will be equipped with a camera sensor is curved RX2, combined an f/1.8 35mm lens.
