This Reason Mac Computer Rarely Gets Virus

Kaspersky Lab held a security conference "Palaeontology of Cybersecurity" in Suntec City, Singapore, Thursday (6/7/2017). The event was held as part of the 2017 Interpol World Congress security exhibition.

In the event, also present Kaspersky CEO, Eugene Kaspersky. He revealed some recent data about network security.

One of them is about the number of "collections" of malware database owned by Kaspersky. On this occasion, Kaspersky revealed that all the OS did not escape from the name of cyber attacks.

Even so, the number of malware or malicious programs owned Kaspersky Lab in Mac OS made Apple is said to be very little. According to data as of May 2017, until recently Kaspersky Lab only found 53,000 threats to the OS.

The number is very far from the Microsoft Windows OS that has 474 million attacks and Google's Android OS made Google with 23 million attacks.

So, what makes the number of attacks to the Mac OS very little? According to Kaspersky, this happens because the number of software makers for Mac is still small.

At least the number of Mac engineers is also directly proportional to the number of criminal Mac malware makers said little.

"There are many who work on apps for Microsoft Windows and Google Android, but not for Mac, this is actually good for Mac users," Kaspersky joked in front of media from Asia, including KompasTekno journalist Deliusno.

"In fact, in terms of security, the security hole on the Mac is actually more than Windows, but there is nothing to make (malware) on Mac," he said.

Meanwhile, the number of attacks on Windows is said to be a lot because currently the OS is still very popular among ordinary users. Microsoft's homemade OS is also still a standard among companies.
"The number of attacks to Android increased so drastically because cyber crime has begun to switch to mobile," Kaspersky said.

The lowest number of attacks is in Apple's mobile OS, iOS. The number only touches 600.

According Kaspersky, security gaps exist in iOS actually there are some. But few know. The gap is also sold on the "black market" with a very expensive price, which is 1.5 million US dollars per gap. Therefore, cyber criminals tend to skip iOS.

The number of attacks is currently very much. Kaspersky compares, in 1986 to 2016, there were only 1 million malware attacks. Meanwhile, after the year 2016, found about 310,000 attacks each day. That is, within one week, can be found more than 2 million attacks.

"The number of attacks increased very quickly," Kaspersky said.
