Intel SSD 520, New Standards Performance SSD

Intel announced the availability of Solid State Drive (SSD) 520 Series with the code name of Cherryville. Intel said the SSD 520 series will be the new standard for performance of an SSD.

SSD storage medium itself is no longer using a magnetic disc such as a conventional hard disk. SSD is now widely used in portable computer types ultrabook.

SSD 520 supports standard SATA 3 (6Gbps) version, which uses NAND Flash memory process technology 25 nanometer (nm). The chipset used is SandForce, a chipset with the highest performance on SATA 3 interface.

This series is designed for high-speed data transfer is higher. According to Intel, SSD 520 Series promises an average speed of read and write up to 550 MBps and 520 MBps.

SSD 520 gives maximum performance 4K write up to 80,000 Input-Output per Second (IOPS). While the read performance of 50,000 IOPS.

SSD 520 is also available in larger capacities and diverse, which is 60 GB (149 dollars), 120 GB (229 dollars), 180 GB (369 dollars), 240 GB (509 dollars) and 480 GB (999 dollars).

SSD 520 series SSD will replace the previous series, the 510 with the code name of Elmcrest, which is only marketed in two capacity options, 120GB and 250GB.
