Smartphones and tablets will be able to transmit video directly to a 4K monitor or large screen TV. It allows thanks to the technology provided by Qualcomm.
Reported Techhive, Thursday (07/03/2014), the company acquired chip maker Wilocity. Wilocity is based chip manufacturer WiGig technology, which can transfer data between devices at speeds up to 7Gbps.
Qualcomm to integrate these technologies on 810 Snapdragon mobile processor 64-bit besutannya. Reportedly, the first smartphones and tablets with WiGig technology is going to be shipped in the second half of next year.
WiGig is said to signify the end of an HDMI port on the mobile device and eliminates the required connector for data transfer or 4K video. WiGig is claimed to be faster than WiFi and LTE mobile broadband technology, which is now in the Snapdragon chip.
Qualcomm declined to mention how much money they spend to buy Wilocity. Hopefully, future smartphones powered by Qualcomm chips will offer a new experience with a 4K display on a monitor or widescreen TV.
As is known, can display 4K video resolution 3840 x 2160 pixels or four times higher than high-definition video (HD) resolution of 1920 x 1080.
