How It Works Search Engines Memex

Institute for Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is currently developing search engine technology that is claimed to be more powerful than a similar service owned by Google. Then, behind the claim that, how the actual workings of the service called Memex this?

As a search engine, the service name is derived from a combination of memory and the Index is true can be used to search for anything.

However, the creator of this service, Christopher White, wants to focus Memex help combat various forms of crime, especially to the problem of online prostitution and human trafficking.

The workings of this system is quite complicated. As KompasTekno quotes from Popular Mechanics, Tuesday (02/17/2015), Memex system data bases his duty charge by combing all the information in cyberspace.

As an illustration, let's take the case of an online prostitution problem. Memex system will belong to comb all the information on the Internet related to the problem. One possibility combed information derived from prostitution ads posted online.

Based on these ads, the system will take information such as phone numbers, pictures, and also the location of metadata. With the data collected, it is hoped the authorities can easily map the location of the crime.

In contrast to the results offered by Google, Bing, and Yahoo, which is based on advertising and linearly displayed by the search engine algorithms, Memex will present information in the form of sophisticated infographics, that information was difficult to find by Google.

Currently, Memex is available free of charge and available for public access. The reason why the White provide this service to the public is that all these services work using funds derived from taxation of US citizens.

White also plans to further develop the Memex system to combat terrorism, such as monitoring the activity of ISIS.
