8 Things Users Need to Know Android

In just a few years after its emergence, Android has become the most dominant gadget platform. Various kinds of smartphones and tablet-based mobile operating system has been made by various manufacturers around the world.

If you have an Android device, there are several things you can do to optimize everyday use. Here are nine of which are summarized KompasTekno from various sources:

1. Treat like PC to improve performance
Smartphones are like miniature PCs that fit in the palm of the hand. The way it works is actually the same, for example about memory management.

Like PCs, Android will slow down if the RAM or internal storage media is too full. To improve performance again, you can turn off unused active programs through the task manager that is usually provided by Android devices.

Do also "clean up" the internal media by removing the applications that are rarely used or old files such as photos or videos that have been backed up first. Cleaner programs like CC Cleaner, All-in-One Toolbox and others can help you with this.

2. Take advantage of modification freedom
One of the main advantages of Android than any other mobile platform is the freedom of modification it offers.

Users can put various widgets on the homescreen and lockscreen.

E-mail or timeline Twitter, for example, can be directly viewed without the need to open the application, as well as other information, from the weather in the area until the movement of stock values.

Organize your Android device in such a way as to fit your needs and usage habits to make it easier to use.

3. Place the address in the lockscreen
Indeed, theft incident often overwrite gadgets lately. But, just to be on guard, it could be your phone is lost or left behind and found by people who intend to return, it is better to put the address and contact information in the lockscreen.
The trick is to go to Settings menu> Security> Screen security> Owner info. Here is a small box where you can type address information to display in lockscreen.

Want to track phone position? You can do it via "Googling". Just type in the keyword "Find my phone" in the browser, and Google Search will display your phone's positioning via Google Maps view.

If necessary, you can also sound the phone ringtone or remote wipe through the facility "Find my phone" earlier. This is useful to prevent lest important data on the phone fall into the hands of irresponsible people.

4. Turn on encryption to protect data
Warning: tips on this one actually do not need to be done, unless you really fear the files stored on the Android device fall into the hands of others.

To do this, go to Settings> Security> Encryption menu, and choose "Encrypt phone". You will be prompted to create a PIN. This PIN code will be prompted every time you turn on your phone.

Encryption process usually takes a long time, about 1 hour, and can only be reversed through factory reset. Encrypted information is also slower to access. More can be seen on this link.

5. Trial alternative launcher
Another modification freedom that is also provided by Android is you can change the launcher alias main interface that fills the homescreen display.

Some popular examples of launchers, such as Nova Launcher. Many other launcher options are available in the Google Play Store. You can try them out freely, who knows, one of them fits.

Want further modifications? You can try custom ROM aka modified Android OS that will replace the default Android OS mobile phone.

There are additional functions that can be opened by custom ROM. One example of a well-known custom ROM is CyanogenMod which can be seen in this link.

7. Open the options developer
This is an interesting easter egg on Android phones. With the "secret" feature of the options developer, you can access a number of advanced setting options, such as animation time lag and USB debugging.
How to enable the developer options is quite unique. You should open the "about phone" menu in the settings screen. Then, tap the "build number" section (containing the operating system version number) seven times.

A notification that says "You're now a developer!" Will then appear and you can access the options developer from within the settings menu.

8. Put the widget on Lockscreen

Widgets that display a variety of useful information not only can be placed on the homescreen alias Android main screen, but also lockscreen when the screen is locked.

To enable this feature, go to Settings> Security menu and select "Enable widgets". Then go to the lockscreen and wipe your finger to the left.

Here you will see a large "+" sign that you can use to add various widgets on the lockscreen screen, from e-mail, Google Now, to weather information
