First Phone with Fingerprint Sensor on Display Intended

Some time ago, the sensor manufacturer Synaptics announced that it has built a screen with an in-screen fingerprint sensor for smartphones bezel-less.

Working closely with the top five smartphone companies, Synaptics boasted that the technology was mass-produced.

Among the five smartphone manufacturers, Vivo emerged as the first Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manufacturer to embed the fingerprint scanner sensor in the smartphone screen. The sensor is embedded in the OLED display of its smartphone product.

This was revealed by Patrick Moorhead, analyst of research firm Moor & Insight Strategy. Moorhead claimed to be invited by Synaptic to see the technology made, as well as menjajalnya on Vivo devices.

Vivo itself has been showing off a mobile prototype with on-screen fingerprint scanner technology, powered by Qualcomm at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai early 2017.

But the Chinese mobile phone vendors are switching to Synaptics-made sensors because Qualcomm's fingerprint scans are perceived to be slower to respond, as KompasTekno sums up from Digit on Friday (29/12/2017).

The on-screen fingerprint scanner is the most contemplated feature of the contemporary phone, especially after the bezel-less display trend. The smartphone frame can be made even slender again if the fingerprint scanner sensor is moved to the screen, not using special keys.

Previously, the smartphone manufacturers outsmart fingerprint scanners with advanced technology such as Face ID in iPhone X or Iris Scanner belonging to Samsung flagship.

However, it is not yet known when the smartphone with screen fingerprint scanning was released to the public. The possibility of Vivo will show off first in the event CES 2018, next January
