"Wireless Charging" Make iPhone Batteries "Leaking"?

One of the new features (for iPhone) presented by iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X is the ability of wireless battery charging, aka wireless charging. Although practical because it can charge the device without the battery must be connected to the cable, wireless charging may bring bad effects to the iPhone battery.

This was revealed by an owner of the iPhone 8 Plus named Adrian Kingsley-Hughes who suspected that the performance of the phone is getting more and more decreased after he started using a wireless charger. Adrian then installed the CoconutBattery app to monitor his iPhone 8 Plus recharge cyle.

Recharge cycle is the battery charging cycle from 0 to 100 percent and valid cumulative. For example, users use 75 percent of the phone's battery up to 25 percent left, then fill up to 100 percent the night. If the next day the battery is used 25 percent, it will be counted as one charging cycle.

The iPhone battery is designed to be capable of saving 80 percent of its initial capacity in 500 times the recharge cycle, typically achieved within 2 to 3 years. However, from CoconutBattery, Adrian learned that his iPhone 8 Plus has undergone 135 recharge cycles in less than 6 months.

Battery charging cycles are getting more and more frequent, thus indicating the battery "leaked" alias diminished capacity, although it is still relatively new. Adrian says the probable cause is the battery that works harder when it's charged wirelessly, rather than the cable.

"When on-charge with cable, the phone lights up with power from the cable (there's only minimal load on the battery," Adrian wrote in an article on ZDNet, as summarized KompasTekno, Tuesday (13/3/2018). "However, when using wireless charger, the battery power is still used to turn on the phone, so the battery can not 'rest', "he continued.Soonly, according to Adrian, iPhone battery performance decreased faster with wireless charging.

He did not explain, exactly what brand and type of wireless charger used. In the market is known there are several wireless chargers are compatible, and can be used with the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. Adrian decided to return to the conventional charging method, namely by cable. He advises other users to do the same, unless it is already planning to replace the battery less than two years.
