5 Most Dangerous Computer Virus

Computer viruses can be a nightmare for anyone. Flame is clearly the evolution of the latest computer virus. Together Stuxnet and Duqu, Flame was designed to attack ordinary computer users. Rather it is designed as a weapon to attack a country cyberwar.
In addition to the above three dangerous viruses, there are thousands of viruses "ordinary" other, no less dangerous. Here are five of the worst computer virus was created for the user's computer and the internet:
1. MelissaEstimated damage: $ 1 billion - 1.5 billion dollars

First discovered on March 26, 1999, the Melissa virus (written by David L Smith), also known as Mailissa, Simpsons, Kwyjibo, or Kwejeebo can block email system infected with the virus.
Melissa was first distributed through Usenet discussion group alt.sex. This virus is in a file called List.DOC, which contains the password for access to 80 porn sites.
When a user opens the email message, Word attachments that are infected with the Melissa virus will be sent to the first 50 names in the user's address book automatically.
2. Code RedEstimated Damage: 2 billion U.S. dollars - 2, 75 billion dollars, more than 350,000 infected computers around the world
Released on Friday, July 13, 2001, the worm takes advantage of a buffer overflow vulnerability in Microsoft IIS server to replicate themselves by exploiting the same vulnerability in Microsoft IIS server other. Until July 19, 2001, more than 400,000 computers have been infected by the virus.
Buffer overflow occurs when the computer can not handle too much information it receives, causing the shutdown.
The virus is quite difficult to remove because it is able to re-infect systems that have been cleaned. The virus is capable of causing overload problems and denial of access to sites all over the world.
3. ILOVEYOUEstimated damage: 5.5 billion dollars - 8.75 billion dollars
Love Bug virus is still considered one of the most destructive virus. ILOVEU able to infect more than 50 million computers in just nine days and led to some military sites to shut down their network until the virus can be cleaned.
The virus is accessing Outlook contact name from your list. If you see an e-mail message "I LOVE YOU" and open it, it will replicate itself and send messages to your contacts again. Recipients who do not know what happened, will open the document that resulted in most of their files overwritten.
4. MyDoomEstimated damage: 4 billion dollars - 22 billion U.S. dollars, slowed global Internet performance by 10% and Web load times by 50%
Mydoom virus, also known as W32.MyDoom @ mm, Novarg, Mimail.R and Shimgapi, is a worm that affects the performance of Microsoft Windows.
He first appeared on January 26, 2004 and became the fastest spreading viruses ourselves (exceeding the speed set by the Sobig virus and the ILOVEYOU).
On January 29, 2004, Microsoft offered a reward of 250 000 U.S. dollars for information leading to the arrest of Mydoom author and until February 1, 2004, an estimated one million computers worldwide have been infected with the virus Myoom.
MyDoom is effective enough to spread themselves as recipients will receive an email warning about a failure to send an email and the recipient would open it unknowingly triggering the virus.
MyDoom resulted in a significant burden on search engines like Yahoo and Google, and he also blocked access to the Microsoft site and the site of the popular antivirus.
5. Storm WormEstimated damage: $ 15 billion, 1-50 million infected computers around the world
Initially distributed in an email message containing the subject "230 dead from the storm of Europe", Storm virus is a malicious Trojan horse which appeared in January 2007.
The worm infected email contains an executable file. Once opened, the malware is automatically installed, and the infected computers will be part of a botnet (a network of PCs that can be controlled remotely).
On September 2007, an estimated 1-50 million computers are infected and become part of the Storm botnet.
