Intel Prepare Core Processor 18

The latest Intel Xeon processors ( Ivy Bridge - EP ) has a number of CPU cores reaches 12 pieces . The chip was manufactured with 22 nanometer fabrication process .

Going forward , the chip manufacturers are developing new types of processors code-named " Broadwell - EP " and " Broadwell - EX " built with 14 nanometer process . The number of cores in a single processor can be increased to 18 pieces .

According to leaked slides reported by VR - Zone , Broadwell - EP chips will be launched in 2015 and is available in two variants .

The first is a high-performance desktop version with the number of cores between 8 to 10 pieces . The other is a workstation version of the core processing amounted to 12 to 16 pieces . As for the 18 - core variants will come from the family of Broadwell - EX .

In keeping with the philosophy of " tick - tock " of the company , Intel is not expected to increase the speed of the CPU cores , but only adds to the amount in each processor package .

To balance the development of the processor , Intel also referred to pair it with a high-speed RAM DDR -2400 . The number of memory modules which can be accessed at the same time achieving 16 pieces .

These processors are Xeon family first built with 14nm fabrication process . Time peluncurkannya predicted adjacent to the Intel Developer Forum 2015 in September next year .

On the other hand , the power consumption of the consumer version of Broadwell can be reduced to 4.5 watts thus allowing the processor installed on the tablet and laptop devices " 2 - in- 1 " .
