Dynamic Voltage Restorer Launches BPPT

Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology ( BPPT ) launches DVR ( Dynamic Voltage Restorer ) , a tool that is able to prevent loss due to pulsating electrical voltage in the industrial sector .

" For industry pulsating electrical voltage abruptly though only a fraction of a second can be detrimental to billions of dollars , " said engineer systems of Central Energy Conversion and Conservation Technology BPPT Eka Rakhman Priandana during the workshop on " Optimizing the Operation of Electrical Systems " in Jakarta , Wednesday ( 26/3 ) .

According to him , the industrial sector is in need of a stable electricity supply to maintain continuity of production , but the power supply often gets interference from lightning strikes or can be derived from the sources of distortion .

He pointed out that due to the pulsating voltage is computer suddenly restart thus eliminating what he was doing and destruction programs until the destruction of the hard drive and other components .

DVR , he said , is the source voltage pengkompensasi experiencing power quality disturbance ( sag / swell ) by injecting a voltage difference between the reference line to the load , so that the load voltage quality remained stable during the disturbances appear .

As well as UPS ( Uninterruptible Power Supply ) which serves to maintain power quality , DVR also has the same function and are installed in the electrical distribution panel after the transformer before electricity distributed to the machinery and equipment industry .

" But the difference with UPS , DVR does not use much battery with large size and valuable is very expensive because the DVR using a power source that is stored in the capacitor , so the price could be a tenth . Additionally UPS dropout voltage while just to be able to blink DVR voltage , " Eka said .
