Samsung plans to create a virtual reality headset (VR) more sophisticated than Gear VR. Headset new generation might be employed without the need to pair it with your phone.
The headset is also equipped with a positioning sensor which is now used by Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. There are also new features like reader gestures and hand movements.
"We are working on an independent VR device that can be used without having to pair it with your phone," explained Head of R & D for Software and Services Samsung, Injong Rhee in an application developer conference in San Francisco.
Rhee also notes that although the plan of the VR headset is already underway, they will probably take a long time to release it to the market. One reason is because the industry tends VR new, still in the stage of "baby" newborn.
As reported KompasTekno of Variety, Monday (02/05/2016), for the time being, Samsung seeks to strengthen the performance Gear VR headset market that is released along with the Galaxy S7. This headset still requires a Samsung phone as the display and computational tools.
"We think that by 2016 slowly being transformed into his VR technology," said Samsung's Director of Software Development, Andrew Dickerson.
Dickerson also mentioned that the company intends to launch the camera Gear 360 this week. Not yet known how much the price of the camera 360 degrees, but rumors are circulating that the price is in the range of 350 dollars or equivalent to Rp 4.6 million.
