WhatsApp Launches Group Voice and Video Calling Features

In early May in the annual conference for F8 developers, Facebook announced it will bring new features to WhatsApp in the near future.

Voice calls and video calls, as well as stickers, are included in Facebook's promised updates to WhatsApp users. Unfortunately, the social networking company did not mention the exact time of the launch.

Now, at least two of the promised features are rolling to a number of Android users. AndroidPolice reports that many WhatsApp users are now seeing group call options on their Android devices.

The same feature is also reported to have been rolled into iOS devices recently. But reportedly, the update for the feature is not currently available on iOS devices in Indonesia.

For the record, Android users can only take advantage of the group calling feature with the newest 2.18.162 WhatsApp beta.

However, since not everyone who uses the latest iteration of WhatsApp beta sees the group's call option, it is likely that Facebook will enable this feature via server-side updates.

It is estimated that it will take some time for the new features to finally be used by all Android users, as reported by Phone Arena.
