Diponegoro University (Undip) Semarang tested the utilization of ocean wave energy to support the development of new and renewable energy.
"Utilization of ocean wave energy is still in laboratory tests on the southern coast of Pacitan," said Rector Undip Semarang, Sudharto P Hadi told reporters, after the Working Meeting
Cooperation Agency (BKS) State Universities-Private Higher Education Coordinating (Kopertis) Central Java and Yogyakarta, in UnSoed (PKA) Navan on Friday evening.
According to him, the utilization of ocean wave energy is one Undip efforts in supporting the development of new and renewable energy in Indonesia and within the framework of environmental conservation.
He said that during this ocean wave energy utilization of the best are in Japan. "In Japan has been proven. We are still in the stage of laboratory testing," he asserted.
In this case, he said, the energy utilization of sea trials are conducted Undip with the Office of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Central Java Province.
According to him, currently 95 percent of the energy used in Indonesia is still a fossil, such as natural gas and oil.
"While the other five percent is water, wind, solar, biogas, and biomass. Well, the government is targeting the year 2025, five percent increase to 17 percent. That's not an easy job," he said.
He said the utilization of new and renewable energy that has been developed Undip form of micro-hydro, biogas, and biomass, among others in the area of Pekalongan.
