Nvidia Launches Foundation Tablet "Quad Core" USD 1.8 Million

Price trends increasingly point to the tablet under the alias is getting cheaper.

After a surprise by introducing Android tablet with System on Chip (SoC) Tegra 3 for $ 2 million in January 2012 CES, Nvidia clarify the concept of low-cost tablet that strengthened his chip is.

The annual investor meeting last week Nvidia, the graphics processor chip giant announced a cheap tablet concept called by the name "Kai".



Platform "Kai" plan will be reinforced with Tegra SoC 3 and run the Android operating system 4.0 or "Ice Cream Sandwich". The most interesting part, Nvidia fix the price at the end of the tablet is 199 U.S. dollars or about Rp 1.8 million.

Tegra 3 is the latest chipset from Nvidia that combines a CPU with four cores (quad core) 1.4 GHz speed with a graphics processing unit which is three times faster than previous generations.

"Kai" is likely baselines (reference design) for Android tablet makers in making a tablet device for less than 2 million dollars. To reach that price level, Nvidia allegedly would put cheap components and display with low power consumption.

Nvidia Chief Executive Jen-Hsun Huang promising cheap tablet with Tegra SoC 3 will be available this summer.
