Apparently, that's not true. Quoted from the Independent, Cadex battery company called, the habit of charging the phone overnight is not good for battery performance.
Cadex explained, lithium-ion batteries do not need to be fully charged because of high electrical voltage will actually suppress the battery. Cadex advises mobile users to immediately unplug the charger after the battery is fully charged.
Therefore, mobile users are advised to diligently charge the battery during the day. During charging, set the phone in flight mode. It can speed up the process of charging the battery.
