Dell developed the technology to read the mood for the office and play.
Head of research and development division of Dell said the company could release a mood reader app is the fastest in 2017.
Jai Menon told the BBC that the research Dell is working to make software for the head that reads brain activity and will accurately identify the emotional state of the wearer.
He added that he believes the technology has uses both at work and at home.
But some observers are skeptical about the project.
"I think the potential for these things is astronomical, but we've been told this technology will be completed in five years for decades," said Dr. Bernie Hogan, an expert in human-computer interaction from the University of Oxford.
