"There is a tapioca factory in Lampung that have developed cassava into electrical energy generation and we will mencontohnya," said Advisor to the Governor for Development Lampung Province Fahrizal Darminto, the seminar new and renewable energy as a solution to the energy crisis of Sumatra, in the Campus Institute of Technology Sumatra (Itera ), South Lampung, recently quoted Antaranews.
He said the technology applied by one of the tapioca factories in Lampung by making use of cassava into biomass power plants. According to him, the plant was able to produce electricity for 1 Mega Watt with 10 tons of cassava. Moreover, with the expected power plants cassava prices also increased.
"Two results obtained from the production of cassava, the cassava energy demand and price increases," he said.
