After Tablet, Amazon Also Want to Make Cell Phone

After considerable success in the e-reader, and now reaching the Tablet, Amazon is rumored to be making a smartphone as well. Speculation that Citigroup analyst Mark Mahaney delivered based on the information from the network of suppliers in Asia.

Reportedly, the phone will be available on Amazon's fourth-quarter 2012. The development is currently assisted by Foxconn, manufacturers who produce devices iPad and iPhone for Apple.

Although assisted by Foxconn, rumored Amazon will not do mass production there. They will hook the Hon Hai, the TMS group, to make this phone later. This is the same manufacturer for the Kindle and Kindle Fire.

According to Mark, the smartphone that Amazon will use Qualcomm chips for dual-mode communications as used iPhone 4S. "We believe, the smartphone will use Texas Instruments OMAP 4 processor," said Mark Mahaney told AllThingsD.

Operating system does not matter bluntly predicted. But the instructions is that Amazon will pay royalties to Microsoft. Does this mean even the Windows Phone or Android? Because some vendors nonetheless currently pays a royalty to Microsoft for the use Android on their devices.

Matter of price, Mahaney dare predict that the device would cost 150-170 U.S. dollars per unit. Estimated selling price will not be far from it, can even be cheaper if it dared to 'sell loss' for the sake of gaining customers.

Well, what about the name? This, Mahaney does not speculate. But looking at the trend of the Amazon, there is likely to be related to the brand name Kindle. Will named Kindle Phone?
