Fujitsu Develops Camera Detector Heartbeats

Fujitsu Laboratories Limited created a camera integrated in personal computers, tablets and smart phones that can detect heartbeats.

The camera, as mentioned Fujitsu in its official website, to measure a person's face from the brightness variations of green light is absorbed due to the content and distribution of hemoglobin when blood flow to the face. Base, hemogolobin in the blood can absorb the emitted green.

"(Technology) does not require special hardware and can measure the average heart rate by just pointing the camera at a person's face for five seconds," said Fujitsu, Kawasaki, Japan, Monday (18/3).



When the camera video recording a person's face, the camera technology that measures the color components of red, green, and blue in some areas of the face in each image frame.

The camera is also capable of selecting automatically when it is appropriate to measure the heart rate of the face so as to get relevant data.

"Heart rate data, which are affected body or facial movements will be automatically removed. Example, when the head of a person's face while calling or standing beside the chair will be detected and removed," said Fujitsu.
