WordPress Reaches '​​Milestone': 50 Million Sites

WordPress, an open source blog platform, has reached a milestone by having more than 50 million sites. Half of them are hosted on WordPress.com.

In addition, more than 287 million people open and read the 2.5 billion pages each month at WordPress.com.


According to the official WordPress site on Monday (7/11/2011), on average each day, WordPress.com users to create 500,000 new posts and 400,000 comments.

Recently, Tumblr which is a competitor exceeds 20 million WordPress blogs. WordPress.com Tumblr pass in the number of blogs hosted on the platform.
