HP Release Open Source Browser Isis

Hewlett Packard (HP) released Isis, open source browser from the webOS. The browser is claimed to be faster than any other browser.

Browser Isis is the core application of HP-based webOS platform framework Enyo. The new browser incorporates open source technologies such as QtWebKit and JavaScriptCore, into the webOS platform.


Isis is based QtWebKit machine, which was released into open source by Nokia. The browser has promised performance and wider compatibility with the site in general.

However, this browser also supports Flash content. In addition, the browser also has been tested and supports HTML5 and CSS3.

"Browser Isis is very responsive compared to other browsers," said Fred patton, webOS team without mentioning what is meant by that other browser.

According to the latest browser release HP plans to "open source" the webOS. Since three weeks of its release, Enyo has been downloaded about 40,000 times. For a while, Isis compatible with the HP TouchPad 3.0.5 running on webOS.
