My Book Velociraptor Duo, can be strung with Thunderbolt

Western Digital (WD) introduced the My Book external hard drive Velociraptor Duo in Indonesia. Thanks Thunderbolt technology, this device can be strung to be bigger.

My Book Velociraptor Duo uses two WD Velociraptor with 1TB capacity and speed of 10,000 RPM. WD claims, the result could achieve a data transfer rate of 400 MB per second.

This device can be connected to a computer via the Thunderbolt port. One interesting thing, there are two ports on each My Book Thunderbolt Duo Velociraptor. As a result, the device can be connected to a similar device a few times. With a string several such devices (daisy chaining) total capacity could be larger. In addition, it is flexible enough to add to or reduce it.

Each device has multiple drives. Users can set it to a mode that increases the speed of RAID 0 or RAID 1 total transfer which is used to perform backups.

As another series of WD My Book, this device seems more aimed at users of Mac OS X and creative workers. Evident from direct support to Apple's Time Machine and HFS + Journaled formatting.

My Book Velociraptor Duo is offered at a price of 829 U.S. dollars.
