Microsoft reportedly secretly distribute advertising its cloud services to the File Explorer in Windows 10. A number of users last week saw this ad appeared in the form of a large banner at the top of the windows explorer.
Ad meant to show pop-up notifications to enroll in onedrive, Microsoft's Cloud Storage service in the Quick Access screen. These ads appear when users open a new Explorer window.
In a statement posted to The Verge, Microsoft explained that the pop-up is a "tip" to provide information directly to users of Windows 10.
"This information is intended to enhance the experience of cloud storage and file management," said Microsoft, as summarized KompasTekno, Monday (03/13/2017).
However, advertising is still advertising and some users feel annoyed over the disturbing appearance in the explorer window on the computer.
Is there a way to turn it off? Fortunately, it turns out there and easy to do. The way is to open the "View" in explorer, then select the option Options> Change folder and search.
In the new window that opens, click the View tab, and then find the parameter "Show sync provider notifications" in the Advanced Settings. Remove the check mark in the box located next to it.
Step Microsoft want to channel through explorer ad actually was predictable since the distant days.
In August 2016, Microsoft released Windows Insider Preview build 14901 which embeds a new feature called "notifications".
Notifications appear at the top of the window explorer, exactly where their ads onedrive lately. At the time, Microsoft said notifications serves to provide "educational product".
