Bark Applications Monitor Child Conversations

Conversations of children can now be monitored through Bark applications. Apps that can be used on iOS and Android is connected with more than 20 chat applications and social media to monitor children's activities while surfing.

Bark tries to analyze messages accessed by children whether they contain sexual content, drugs or even suicide attempts. The messages Bark analyzed included slang like "53X" (sex), "KMS" (kill myself) or LMIRL (let's meet in real life).

Bark analyzes 10 million messages a month found on various platforms including text, electronic mail, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube.

Bark Leader Brian Bason states the message being discussed depends on the context to determine that the child is in danger.

For example, children who use KMS (kill myself) or KYS (kill yourself) messages may mean suicide attempts. But if they were talking casually, not necessarily suicide, as in the phrase "I drop my lunch meal on my shirt, want KMS".

Currently, Bark is available for free for a month's usage. After that, the app can be used for 9 dollars per month, as reported by the Phone Arena page.
