Android operating system 8.0 Oreo features notification channels where users can group and manage the way the phone gives notification alerts based on priority, such as whether it will be accompanied by sound, vibration, or not.
WhatsApp presumably is preparing an app update to support notification channels on Android Oreo. This is known from a handful of Oreo-based device users running the WhatsApp beta app starting from version 2.18.18.
According to reports, in the beta version, WhatsApp displays 10 notification channels, namely group notification, message notification, chat history backup, critical app alerts, failure notifications, media playback, sending media, silent notifications, other notifications, and uncategorized.
Each of these channels has settings that can be arranged individually based on the type of notification in question. Users can set priority notifications from available notifications.
For example, if you do not want to get notifications from group chats or chat backups, they can be made to prevent the phone from ringing or vibrating. Can also be disabled (disable) altogether so it does not appear in the notification tray.
In this way, according to the purpose of notification channels function in Android Oreo, WhatsApp users will not be distracted by unimportant notifications and can focus on the desired notification only.
Based on the information quoted by KompasTekno from Gadgets Now on Friday (2/2/2018), the feature of 10 WhatsApp notification channels are still "beta" and can only be accessed by some Oreo Android device users only.
However, did not rule out the features that can be used to set alert notifications based on the type and priority this will soon appear in the update WhatsApp final version later.
In addition, WhatsApp is also reportedly testing other features of WhatsApp Pay. Working closely with a number of banks scattered across the dnia, this feature will allow users to make buying and selling transactions conducted through WhatsApp.
It is said that WhatsApp Pay will menduetkan with WhatsApp business that can be uploaded worldwide in January.
