Google has just announced a massive overhaul of Gmail's e-mail service. This reshuffle can be practically termasif since last year ago. A number of new features are added in this update, such as priority notifications, secret modes, and support for better offline mode.
This update is claimed Google will make Gmail easier to use, smarter, and more secure. In the future, users can read e-mail without having to open messages one by one. In addition, Google will rely on artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence, AI) to scan user e-mail. Thus, notification of e-mails made priority will appear first. AI will also help restrict pop-ups of incoming messages that appear as part of the "smart reply" feature. In a way, the Gmail reshuffle is inspired by today's communicating culture, where not a bit of job communication is done through instant messaging services, like Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp.
For information, the look and new features can not be enjoyed by all Gmail users whose numbers penetrate 1.4 billion people. Google says the spread of this Gmail update will be done in stages. Read more, here's a complete explanation of KompasTekno around Gmail's new features and appearances.
1. Security and Confidential Mode
Confidential mode or secret mode adds some new features so users can better control the information in the e-mail they send. Users can also send e-mail with expiration date setting. That is, the message will disappear by itself in a certain period of time, like one of the features in Messenger. Not only that, the wrong message can be withdrawn, like the "delete for everyone" feature in WhatsApp.
In terms of security, two-factor authentication method is promised to better protect user data more secure, even if the account is hijacked. Messages will be protected with information rights management (IRM), which prevents sensitive information from being forwarded, printed, edited or copied by unauthorized entities. Later, an IRM-protected e-mail will be tagged. But for the case of e-mail contents that screenshots (screenshots), there is no solution offered. At least, with the above message security scheme, enough to prevent leaked confidential information.
Gmail will also flag potentially harmful e-mails. E-mails indicated to steal personal data or confidential information from message recipients will be labeled as red, yellow, or gray blocks. The color category depends on how dangerous the risks are. The color block will be placed on top of the e-mail.
2. Save clicks
Some new features in Gmail, making users save clicks, just from the inbox window. For example, the user simply point the cursor to the desired e-mail subject, several options will appear to respond to RSVP invites, archive messages, or set alarms. The attachment will also be viewable without having to open the whole e-mail.
Through the inbox window, users will also find Google Calendar or other third Google apps, so there's no need to close the Gmail window to access them. The "Task" feature, which will appear on both desktop and mobile versions, both on Android and iOS, can drag e-mail to the "Task" window to create a list of jobs.
3. Smart Reply
"Smart reply" is actually nothing new in Gmail. This feature already exists in the mobile version, and will now support the desktop version. This feature allows users to answer e-mail more efficiently, by displaying several answer options such as "Got it" or "I'm busy", just a click away.
Reported by KompasTekno from Cnet, Wednesday (25/4/2018), more than 10 percent of mobile Gmail users using smart reply.
4. Reminder to reply to a message
Sometimes, so many e-mails come in, some important e-mails are missed. For that, Google brings the feature "Nudging", which will remind users to answer e-mail that is considered important by AI. This feature will also mark a particular e-mail, if the user does not answer the e-mail within three days. Users can also enable "snooze" to hide messages until the specified time limit.
While setting the priority notification, using the user limits the message that appears in the pop-up, so only the important messages will appear.
5. Google Docs Offline
Google Docs also offers offline mode, specific to users who work in isolated places of internet signals. Users do not need to fear the difficulty of searching for old messages, thanks to local caching, messages 90 days ago can be easily found.
