5G Technology Development

South Korea became one of the world's most extensive internet netted, Wednesday (22/1) announced it would invest 1.6 trillion won (U.S. $ 18 billion) to build the next-generation wireless services 5 or 5G technology.

South Korea's Science Ministry said it will implement a technology that is 1,000 times faster than the 4G service is currently in effect, in the next six years.

"We have helped drive the growth of national service in the 1990s 2G, 3G and 4G 2000s around 2010. Now it's time to take steps to develop 5G assessment," the ministry said, as quoted by AFP.

The Ministry said in a few years the competition in the market will be fierce 5G technology. European countries, China and the U.S. is conducting aggressive efforts in developing it.

According to the roadmap, the 5G trial service operated in 2017, while a full commercial service in December 2020.
