Not just wipe data remotely (remote wipe), a feature that is often referred to as a "kill switch" is going to turn the device off completely so it can not be used at all (bricked).
The existence of this feature, based on the information summarized KompasTekno from ZDNet, Wednesday (06/08/2016), known through serangkauan command inserted by Google to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), last week.
That is, the manufacturers of Android phones will be able to apply the "kill switch" to the respective products, to prevent the theft of user data in case of phone loss.
"When the recovery begins with -brick, the device will perform brick to remove all partitions as listed in /etc/recovery.brick," wrote an explanation on the page referred to AOSP.
Manufacturing the device can determine the partition anywhere -including microSD- memory card that will be removed when the function brick run.
This feature will remove part of the recovery, boot, and boot loader so that the device is almost impossible to be revived.
In addition to the brick above features, users could also run a remote wipe using the Android Device Manager.
The device would later do a factory reset and delete the photos and video files although was not in the hands of users. However, remote wipe no guarantee that the data on the memory card will be the ones that remain.
