Baidu Makes Smart Glasses as Google Glass

Companies in China's largest search engine, Baidu, was also develops digital smart glasses similar to Google Glass.

Baidu, which could be called the Google of China, will use its power as a search engine companies, the search for an image and face recognition.

According to Baidu spokesman, Kaiser Kuo, the project was known as the smart glasses Eye Baidu. His prototype is in internal testing.

Kuo said the smart glasses will be paired small LCD screen and will allow users to search for images and sound content, as well as utilizing facial recognition feature.

"What are you doing with your camera. Example, take a picture of a celebrity and then check on our database to see if we have the same face image. You can do the same with visual devices worn on the body," Kuo said as quoted from Reuters , Wednesday (03/04/2013).

However, Baidu's own party has not yet decided whether they will commercialize the product or not.

"We have not decided whether this will be released in commercial form now. However, we experimented for any type of related technologies," said Kuo.

Large technology companies such as Google and Apple are investing in technology that worn in the human body. Google has done a lot of action showing off smart eyeglasses.

While Apple reportedly is developing smart watches. According to a report in The New York Times, Apple's smart watches will be clad in glass with a curved design and use the same platform as the iPhone.
