Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories developed a prototype tablet touch screen that can present to the user through a screen , a sense of smooth or rough , depending on the image being displayed.
Haptic or tactile ( sense of touch ) is a sensory technological innovation developed by Fujitsu Laboratories , Fujitsu said in a statement published on its official website recently.
Fujitsu Laboratories is the first in the industry, which uses ultrasonic vibrations to deliver tactile sensations through variations of friction between the finger and the touch screen users , in contrast to existing technologies for presenting these textures with vibration of the screen.
Users can feel the tactile sensation of any realistic thing in accordance with the image displayed on the screen of Fujitsu tablet . Fujitsu has showcased a prototype tablet with the technology at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona , Spain , 24-27 February.
" As smartphones and tablets reach market maturity , in which case the value of customer priorities shifted from functionality to specs and features appeal to our senses and emotions , such as comfort and enjoyment , " said Fujitsu .
During the exhibition MWC 2014 in Barcelona , visitors can feel the tactile sensation at Fujitsu tablet . Fujitsu demonstrate four things through the tablet , namely :
Japanese harp : the user can feel the sensation of plucked string koto , a traditional Japanese lute .
DJ : the user can feel the sensation of being a DJ , flipped through the CDs or adjust the volume and other controls as touching the actual equipment , as if it was really sticking out .
Vault ( the vault ) : users can feel and touch like real sound when turning the key combination to open the vault .
Alligator : visitors can feel the texture sensation when touching the alligator crocodile picture on Fujitsu tablet .
Fujitsu and Fujitsu Laboratories continued research and development to expand the reach of these tactile expressions , with the aim of commercialization in fiscal year 2015.
