" Siri " version of Windows Phone Coming Soon

Cortana , personal assistant service from Microsoft that is touted as a competitor to Siri and Google Now , to be present on the Windows Phone 8.1 update .

The news comes from a source familiar with Microsoft's plans related to these services , as cited by The Verge . Cortana whose name is taken from the Halo game characters eventually going to replace the function of the built -in Bing search on Windows Phone 8.1 .

" Display " is not a character called Cortana woman suspected all along, but the icon is animated . Cortana will run animation while " talking " or " think " so as if to indicate a form of personality , similar to Siri .

As with Siri , Cortana could be set to use a particular call to the owner of the phone in question . He , for example , the user can call by name " Master Chief " ( the main character in the Halo games ) after activating the function in the settings menu .

Cortana can store information and data in a system of " notebook " . This notebook allows Cortana to access such things as location data , behavior , probadi information , reminders , and the user's contact list .

Cortana also can track the flight schedule or things like that in the e - mail , so as to display the notification as well as Google Now .

The personal assistant service will be supported by other services such as Bing and Forsquare . The name " Cortana " itself is not final and can still be changed by Microsoft .

Cortana will reportedly be introduced in early April the Build conference , where Microsoft will also release a developer preview version of Windows Phone 8.1 .
