Design Tablet for Businessman, HTC Invite IBM

Taiwanese mobile phone vendor, HTC intends to hold the company together with IBM to design a computer tablet with Android operating system.

HTC chose IBM because the company has had experience making hardware for mobile devices. This cooperation will be targeting to the businessman.

This was conveyed by David Jaeger, Executive Director of Global Enterprise and Services HTC, in an interview with eWEEK. In a session at the IBM Lotusphere event and Connect, IBM executives praised Jaeger demonstrating intelligent applications that run on HTC devices and tablets.

"We view IBM as a standard for cooperation targeting to the businessman. We want to establish communication with IBM and talking about Android or tablet," Jeager said.

Following the success of Apple with iPad products, apparently HTC also be tempted to enter into the tablet market and targeting the business. Android tablets are then selected, as an alternative to rival the dominance of the iPad.

Based on data from Gartner, last year, sales of Android tablets reached 11 million units. Gartner estimates that, in 2015, Android tablet market will reach 116 million units. While iPad sales reached 47 million in 2011 and is expected to reach 148 million in 2015.
