Telkomsel strengthens its 4G service by using 2.3 GHz TDD (Time Division Duplex) frequency. As is known, the frequency is achieved Telkomsel in an auction organized by the Ministry of Communications and Informatics (Kominfo).
TDD itself is considered superior to FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) on the spectrum of 900 MHz, 1,800 MHz, and 2100 MHz. Thanks to TDD, customers will enjoy faster internet, and better video quality.
Indra explained, FDD spectrum uses different frequencies when users download or upload. As a result there is a difference between the speed at the time of download and upload.
While TDD uses the same frequency for both upload and download. So customers have the same speed when doing these activities.
"The difference with the current (TDD) upload and download speed is the same, FDD frequency is the same but turns Telkomsel already have both," said Indra Mardiatna, Vice President of Technology and System Telkomsel in Jakarta, Tuesday (28/11/2017).
FDD and TDD ownership also allows Telkomsel to optimize 4G services for customers, for example when TDD spectrum is used by many users.
"Telkomsel has a large FDD and TDD spectrum. When users need a large upload we use FDD, but when needed to download it will be optimized with TDD," said Bob Apriawan, Director of Telkomsel Network.
In Indonesia alone, the new Telkomsel that uses the spectrum of FDD and TDD. While in foreign countries like this spectrum has been used by all operators such as chess in China, Japan, United States, Europe and Africa. Because TDD supports the company in a sustainability effort towards 5G.
