Latest Apple Watch Could Phone without Mobile Phone

Apple can finally apply the latest technology to make calls and send messages through watches. The Apple Watch Series 3 device is launched simultaneously with Iphone X and comes with a wireless LTE connectivity connection to allow make calls and send messages without using the nearby Iphone.

The ability to make calls with watches has long been the dream of tech fans as they imagined in the comic "Dick Tracy '(1946), where a private detective seems to be using his watch to make calls while in charge of combating crime.

"This has been our mission from the beginning," Chief Operations Officer Jeff Williams said at a product launch event on Wednesday (13/9).

"Now you can travel with just a watch and still be able to connect with anyone, it's nice to know that you can be reached when needed," he said.

Samsung Electronic has been selling smart watches with mobile data connectivity since 2014, but its first device is too large and not power efficient because the data connection consumes extra power. Samsung-made devices also require a separate phone number to operate his smart watch. Apple claims its new Apple Watch 3 Series product will have a battery life of up to 18 hours and is only slightly thicker than the previous product, Series 2.

The 3 Series products will also use the same phone number as the customer's Iphone. Technology analysts believe that the technology will trigger sales boost, although there is still no certainty about the deal to sell how many units of the device.

Apple Watch Series 3 will sell for 399 US dollars, slightly more expensive 70 US dollars than the Series 2 because it is equipped with the ability to stream music from Apple Music. But according to an Apple observer at Garter technology research firm Brian Blau, what might make some consumers think twice is the monthly recurring costs of previous smart watches.

"You have to pay for that extra data plan, but it seems the operator will at least make it relatively easier," Blau said.
