Four Steps to Make a PC Like New Again

Is one of your resolutions having a faster PC next year? Or maybe you want to further improve gaming performance, multi-tasking, and create various content and documents on a laptop? In a statement submitted to Republika.co.id, Western Digital provides four simple steps that can make a PC feel like new again as follows.

Upgrade Internal Storage

To improve PC performance, the first thing to do is to upgrade the internal storage system to SSD. For comparison, 10,000 RPM HDDs have speeds of 140MB per second, while the WD Blue 3D NAND has speeds of up to 560MB per second. This means that upgrading from a hard-disk drive (HDD) to a solid state drive (SSD) can increase PC speeds by up to four times. The process of booting, playing, until the transfer between applications can be more accelerated and no longer slow.

Not only does it make PC performance faster, SSD storage is also more flexible and durable. This is because SSDs already use chip technology, not disks that are easily damaged when scratched or dropped. SSDs are also more environmentally friendly with less than one watt of electricity consumption, compared to HDDs that consume more than 10 watts.

Move unused data

Like electronic equipment in general, if the PC's memory is full, its performance will be hampered. Therefore, as much as possible move some large capacity data such as photos and videos to external storage devices.

Uninstall unused programs

The new year is a good time to evaluate what you need and what you don't. For this reason, it's time to clean up on PC storage. Choose a program that is never used and uninstalled to save storage capacity.

The trick, open the Control Panel, select Uninstall a Program, check the Last Used On option to find out which applications are rarely used, right-click, select Uninstall.

Perform Disk Cleanup

The last step is the easiest and fastest step to do. The trick, select My Computer, right-click on the Hard Drive, click Properties, then click the Disk Cleanup menu (on the General tab). Select the drive part you want to clean, then run Disk Cleanup.

Disk Cleanup can delete hundreds of megabytes (even gigabytes) by deleting data that is not needed by the PC system, and empties the Recycle Bin.

Through these four easy steps, you can have a PC that feels like new again. A fast and affordable solution for those of you who want to speed up PC performance without spending a lot of money.
