Message sharing applications such as WhatsApp are often misused to spread hoaxes or hoaxes. WhatsApp will take firm action such as deleting an account if a user is found using the platform to spread hoaxes.
"WhatsApp can't see the contents of the message. So the most likely thing is to see their behavior," Deputy Director of WhatsApp Public Policy and Communication, Victoria Grand, said at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (1/21).
WhatsApp was originally designed as a personal communication platform, different from Facebook, which is positioned as a social network. WhatsApp does provide groups, the number of its members can currently reach hundreds of people per group.
To maintain security on WhatsApp, they added an end-to end encryption feature, in the form of a security system so that only the sender and recipient of the message can read the message. This encryption is installed on WhatsApp so that the message is not hacked during the trip from the sender to the recipient. WhatsApp can't see messages that are on the platform, but they can detect behavior.
If WhatsApp detects abnormal behavior and leads to negative activity, WhatsApp doesn't hesitate to delete the account. "The account in question will be banned," he said.
The number used for the WhatsApp account can no longer be used to access WhatsApp.
In addition to blocking accounts, WhatsApp also labels "forward" messages that are forwarded and limits the number of forwarding messages to only five times. So if an unusual activity occurs, the message can be traced to the previous five messages.
WhatsApp has a reporting feature through the application, if you get a negative chain message, the user can report the account that sent via the "report" option or report it. To report a problematic account, open chat or "chat" then tap the third point in the top right corner and select "report" to report the account.
