Microsoft Patents USB-C Magnetic for Tablets

Microsoft is already quite flooded with criticism because it doesn't include 'future ports' or USB-C on its Surface tablet and laptop devices. Most recently, Microsoft finally patented the magnetic USB-C charging scheme on Surface devices.

Reporting from Tech Radar page, Monday (12/31/2018), Microsoft issued a patent on the USB-C port. The patent was previously submitted by Microsoft to WIPO since March 23 with the title "Magnetically Activated Latch Mechanism".

The patent states that the USB-C cable has a magnet on both sides of the container. This allows users to connect cables remotely without external power.

Also, when a non-magnetic USB-C plug is connected to the port, a hook inside is used to keep the cable in place. When a magnetic cable is connected, the hook system is deactivated so that the cable is connected to the magnet only.

As quoted by GSM Arena, with USB-C magnetic charging technology users don't need to use extra power to striking and pulling cables. This system prevents accidental cable withdrawals.

Because this is just a patent, it does not guarantee that Microsoft will use this system on its future devices. But this system will be accepted in the Microsoft tablet ranks
