Could it be that traffic lights are no longer needed

Could it be that traffic lights are no longer needed in the future? May be. This became a new idea from Ford as part of a program funded by the South British government. Launched through Autoblog, Ford is developing vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) navigation concept technology.

This technology will make the car will not collide or stop completely. Ford shows the Priority Management Intersection concept along Milton Keynes Road, which is about 55 miles northwest of London. Ford assured the concept of an 'intelligent crossing', where the car can pass through the intersection safely without having to stop.

However, this technology is still limited between one Ford vehicle technology and another in reading the location of each car. V2V technology is able to read the direction of travel and the speed of the car so that it will suggest the maximum rate so as not to collide with other vehicles at the intersection. Cars also don't need to stop completely when they get traffic lights.

This experiment uses a car with a driver behind the wheel. This application is intended for autonomous vehicles. Later, technology will make road users no longer have to be stuck in traffic lights. Because, based on data drivers in the United States (US) spend 59 hours per year waiting for traffic lights.

This technology will also make fuel savings. The car will braking less, keep quiet, and accelerate from full stop. This technology will also provide greater security benefits. At present 40 percent of car damage in the US occurs at the intersection.
