Perfect application creator Ratih Rachmatika said that Perfect stands for 'perishable food maturity and freshness detector'. Perfect is an android based application that is able to identify the level of fruit maturity and freshness.
He said the application was made to improve the quality of exports of food products that are not durable in Indonesia. The excellence of Perfect is equipped with three features at once, namely perfect maturity, perfect fresh food, and perfect fertilizer.
According to him, perfect maturity is useful for identifying fruit maturity. "While 'perfect fresh food' to measure fruit freshness and 'perfect fertilizer' can be used by farmers to determine the appropriate fertilizer dose when planting fruit," he said.
He said how to use the application is very easy, namely the fruit you want to check is enough to be photographed using a cellphone camera. Furthermore, the results of the photo are cut to minimize the resolution of the image so that it is easier to determine the level of maturity and freshness of the fruit based on the fruit's skin color image.
"After that, press the 'process' button to find out the results. In principle, the application to measure the level of maturity and freshness of fruit using color images does not exist in Indonesia. If I see it abroad, but it uses an odor sensor. So there are no competitors , "he said.
He said the application can be used by anyone and is not limited to farmers. "For the community, for example, they want to check the quality of food is still good or not, ordinary users can also. Collectors to retail stores can also use it," he explained.
The Perfect application created by the Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta Faculty of Engineering student, won third place in the national scientific writing competition (LKTI) held by the Indonesian Export Financing Institution (LPEI) or Indonesia Eximbank.
