Firefox Rocket Change the Name to Firefox Lite

Mozilla, a technology company famous for browsers or browsers, launched a new name for the application that was originally called Rocket Firefox into Firefox Lite. "This new name is clearer and the message is stronger. Firefox Lite is a mini version of the Firefox browser," said Head of Mozilla Asia Products, Joe Cheng, during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday (1/11).

Rocket Firefox has been in Indonesia since last year. Renaming to Firefox Lite does not change the essence of this application which prioritizes the weight of lightweight applications, only 3.3MB, fast and saving internet data.

Applications that end in 'lite' are generally designed for phones that have low power so they have a much smaller size than the regular version. This small size causes Firefox to be opened faster because it does not require large power, making it suitable for consumers who have limited internet access.

The new name of Firefox Lite is also expected to be better known to the public so they are interested in downloading and using it. Not only rename, Mozilla also updates the appearance of Firefox Lite to make it more modern and brighter colors.

"In order to be able to fulfill the internet surfing needs every day," Cheng said.

Indonesia became one of the first countries to get Rocket Firefox when the application was launched last year. Besides Indonesia, Mozilla also provides Rocket Firefox in India, Thailand and the Philippines. Mozilla assesses Indonesia as one of the main markets for them because internet users in Indonesia are familiar with the desktop version of the Firefox browser.
