Youtube Kids Presents Local Educational Content for Children

In September, YouTube officially launched Youtube Kids in Indonesia. Youtube Kids is a new application that is built by thinking about children's needs and is specifically designed to be a family friendly application. Until now, Youtube Kids has been launched in more than 38 countries, watched more than 70 billion times throughout the world.

Head of Google Indonesia's Consumer Marketing Fibriyani Elastria stated that the main priority of Youtube is to provide access for Indonesian parents and children to inspirational, educative, entertaining and family-friendly content collections.

"Youtube Kids gives parents control in choosing content that is appropriate for their children to see and learn," he said through an official statement received by Republika.co.id, Tuesday (11/26).

With a combination of special character, horizontal orientation, and ease of navigation, Youtube Kids is expected to be a safe and comfortable place for children, especially those aged 2-10 years. This is to be able to explore their curiosity and imagination.

On the Youtube Kids application, parents have more control. There are features such as timers which are built-in features in the application. The timer allows parents to limit the time of watching children automatically.

There are also active / non-active search features that provide more access to a variety of videos. This feature while providing a more controlled viewing experience.

The approved parent mode helps parents choose what videos / channels are available on their child's profile. In addition, parents can create up to eight different profiles on one device where parents can determine spectacle preferences, video recommendations, and personal password settings for each of their children.

YouTube Kids also lets children create a personal passcode to enter their profile. But parents can always change their passcode to enter the application.

Family entertainment content and learning is one of the fastest growing categories of content on YouTube. Therefore, the 'Learning' tab (Learning) on ​​the Youtube Kids application provides access for children and families to more than one billion educational content on Youtube every day. Among other things, the 'How Can You' and 'Kastari Sentra' channels have received the Gold Creator Award for reaching one million subscribers.

Youtube also always strives to promote local content that inspires children to become teaching and education materials. According to Ryan Rahardjo, Senior Analyst of Public Policy & Government Relations at Google Indonesia, his party is working with the Community of Ayo Dongeng Indonesia to launch the Yuk! Fairy Tale initiative.

"We are trying to bring back folklore as one of the riches of Indonesian culture. There are 34 folklore from 34 provinces that we raised back to tell," Ryan explained.
